Kirsten is a digital media consultant and content creator for non-profit and healthcare clients in the U.S. and Europe. With a passion for mental health care advocacy and an extensive background in communications and health policy, she also now works as a researcher for the University of Zürich and the Berkman Klein Center at Harvard University, studying the future impact and opportunities of digital technologies on youth and mental health and well-being globally. Her other titles include Community Relations Specialist for Timberline Knolls Residential Treatment Center in Chicago and the Founder of the Kirsten Haglund Foundation, which supports families seeking treatment for eating disorders and provides a virtual online transitional living program for those in recovery. She also had the honor of serving as Miss America in 2008 and, following her year of service, spent the next ten years working as a political and social commentator across national television and radio in New York City. In 2018, she relocated to Zurich, Switzerland, where she has the joy of continuing to use her classical ballet, music, and voice training by working part-time as an indoor cycling, pilates, and barre coach, helping clients to find meaning and joy in their bodies and movement. Along with playing mom and dad to their toy poodle Elsa, she and her husband unwind by enjoying weekend hikes in the Alps and training for their next sailing certification so that they’re one step closer to their goal of living on a sailboat in the Mediterranean and eventually sailing the world together.
