The Scandal of Salvation: God's Plan for Mankind 

Leslie introduces herself and gives us a glimpse into her personal background with God and how she came to the realization that God had a plan for salvation from the very beginning.  

The Fall & The Need for Salvation

The unity and relationship between mankind and God, the Creator, is interrupted by the introduction of sin into the world.  Genesis 1:28-30 “ God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you;  and to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the sky and to everything that moves on the earth which has life, I have given every green plant for food”; and it was so.”,  Genesis 3:14-19  The Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this, cursed are you above all livestock and above all beasts of the field; on your belly you shall go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life. I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.” To the woman he said, “I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing; in pain you shall bring forth children. Your desire shall be contrary to your husband, but he shall rule over you.” And to Adam he said, “Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you, ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you and you shall eat the plants of the field. By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”  Genesis 11:4 “They said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.” 

The Covenants

Through covenants God displays His plan for redemption for mankind.

The Mosaic Covenant

The Davidic Covenant

The covenants show God’s power to bring about the fulfillment of the promises He made and His compassion, mercy, and grace by doing it all for a world that constantly disobeys and rejects Him. 

The Law

It is in this period that God would establish His Law for the people to keep. He would name Himself as their God above all other gods.

The Messiah

God is omnipresent, and omniscient. God is eternal and He is everywhere. Everywhere at all times for all time

Messianism 

When all covenants are reviewed, there is one common theme that unites them together. That is the redemptive plan that God had in store for His people through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Conclusion

Leslie gives a brief overview of the lessons in this course and encourages us to see that God’s plan for salvation was there all along.
